This blog post has been a long time coming. I posted a video of my transformed front porch last year. Now, I’m finally posting this on my blog. In my defense, I wanted to wait til Fourth of July, since that is the theme of my porch. A’last, the 4th is upon us.
I will say, besides different plants, not much has changed here 😊. I do have plans this year of painting my door black. If I do, I’ll be sure to share that with you guys as well as current front porch photos.
So withouth further adu, let’s start are with the list:

Let’s begin the steps:
This project was surprisingly difficult. I’m not sure if it was the time constraints I was under or the fact that I had the hardest time finding a bench to fit in the space. Since I decided to makeover my front porch as part of a YouTube collaboration, I had limited time to figure out what I wanted. I was dead set on having a bench in this space, and most of the time I spent looking for a bench to fit in the space. But before I go down that road, let’s talk about my door and sconces.
My sconces looked old and worn down from the weather. I honestly do not know what color they were before I spray painted them LOL. I took them down, removed all of the glass and cleaned with soap and water. I gave the sconce a light sand to remove any chipped and loose paint, then spray painted black. I think it took 2 light coats and maybe an hour and a half including dry time. Back on the house they went and what a transformation. This cost me no money since I already had black spray paint.
Next I started on my front door. Like the sconces, my door was worn and dull. I knew I wanted to decorate my front porch, but couldn’t see adding anything new until this was done. So I sanded and stained it an Ebony color using Minwax
I don’t know why I was so determined to have a bench here. I stopped at just about every store I thought would have an outdoor bench. Walmart, Home Goods, TJ Max, Marshalls, Target, Kroger, HEB, Goodwill, several flea markets, Lowes, Home Depot… I could really go on, but you get the point. Even purchased and brought home a few of ’em. Let’s just say, those relationships didn’t work out. Then I had the bright idea to make my own bench with cinder blocks and wood. You guessed it, that didn’t work either.
I was at my whit’s end and ready to give up. I had 1 weekend left to complete this project and besides staining my front door, I hadn’t done anything. Then, as if it were meant to be, during a quick unrelated visit to Big Lots, I stumbled across this beauty. Unfortunately, Big Lots no longer carry this bench. I’ll post a link to a similar bench at the end of the post.
And after a few coats of black spray paint…
This bench fits perfectly on my porch
So, once I found a bench it was time for the fun part. DECORATING!!!!
I found the patriotic pillows at Ross Dress for Less and the throw from HomeGoods.

This cutie here is compliments of HomeGoods.
The rug was also purchased from Ross Dress for Less.
Plus, a few plants and these cute little lantterns from HomeDepot was just enough to make this side pop.
And there you have my small front porch makeover. Here are a few more pictures for your enjoyment.
