It’s a giveaway, 🎈🎉 YAY!!!!! 🎉🎈.

I haven’t done a giveaway contest in such a long time and I’m so excited to be sharing this with you. This time, the giveaway item is being provided by my friends over at Backyard Expressions. They carry a large selection of home, patio, and garden items that would work in any yard type. Best of all, they are affordable 👍.

About 1 month ago, Backyard Expressions reached out to me and asked if I could feature one of their outdoor items in an upcoming video. I gladly accepted this opportunity but requested they send an additional gift for one of my subscribers. They kindly agreed.

As it turned out, I already had plans on cleaning up my flower bed and possibly trying something new. I have to admit that I don’t really like this type of home maintenance. My mom, on the other hand, has a few green thumbs. She can spend hours and hours in her garden and what she creates is usually a small piece of heaven.

Since I wasn’t quite blessed with this ability, nor do I have the desire, I try to keep my maintenance to a minimum. At least once a year, I like to take a little time to clean-up and trim the bushes in my flower beds, and update the mulch. With the help of the hubster, it takes me about 2hrs max. We also have a yard service crew who mows, weeds, and trim big bushes 2-3 times per month.

Ok, ok, so let’s get to it!!!

Supply list:

This year, I got a late start due to bad weather and travels. So, my flower bed was a bit overgrown.

This Potato Plant right here (that’s what my Mom calls it) can grow in any condition and on anything. It originally started in the pot in the middle of the flower bed then somehow grew beyond that. I love how vibrant it is, but it’s often too much to maintain in the front yard. So, I’ll be moving it elsewhere.

Because of 2 large pine trees over our yard, we are constantly plagued with pine needles. Our yard guy will usually clean these up on his visits, but I like to also clean through the flower beds during my maintenance. The battle is never victorious as these guys constantly fall, but cleaning them does help with the yard looking neat.

The orange plant is called a Mexican Firecracker here in Texas. It is a gorgeous bush and grows very wild. It will continue to spread if you do not pull the newly developed bushes up on a regular basis.

I place the roots of any plant that I want to preserve in a bucket of water until I can move it to its new home.

Finally, I trim all of the bushes in the flower bed. I like to trim the smaller bushes into a round shape.

To make room for my Backyard Expressions Bird Bath, I move my flower pot from the middle of the bed…

Above is my cleaned and trimmed flower bed before I install the bird bath below. My niece, aka my little helper, couldn’t wait to fill the bird bath. What can I say, that little bit of water made for some really great photos 😜.

My last step is to throw a few bags of fresh mulch down. I usually always go with black. I feel the green foliage pops best when it paired with the black mulch.

So how do you think my flower bed turned out? I’ve mentioned that I don’t particularly enjoy gardening or yard work, but I understand the importance of a good looking yard. In my opinion, keeping a fresh and neat front yard is the most important thing you can do for good curb appeal. It is also the first impression someone has of your home even before entering. If you are like me and don’t enjoy the garden work, I hope this inspires you to get at least your front yard looking spiffy😊.

Don’t forget to leave a comment below to enter the giveaway contest and check back soon for the results. I wish you the best of luck.

Oh BTW, If you are not following me on Instagram, please check me out http://instagram.com/iamangelaeast. There, you will find all sorts of stuff I have going on 😊.

I hope you all have a blessed day.

As I was online searching for landscaping ideas, low and behold I received your YouTube video notification. Not only is the bird bath very nice but, so is your landscaping. Since the bird bath is the perfect color against my home, I would place it in my front yard island, which I also have plans on adding up lighting for my Japanese Maple tree. YouTube:@LadyZR33

Just watched the video! Love that bird bath! I would use it in my back yard where I just have mulch. It would be a great decorative piece to that area of my yard. I like the way your front yard turned out with just some simple clean up. I like using black mulch too!

Hi Angela I’m a new subscriber on your YouTube channel. If I won the birdbath I would put it in the flowerbed in my front yard. You are so right about curve appeal, and I have been looking for items to spruce up the front of my home and I think this would be just the piece I need. Thank you

And I’m totally like you when it comes to the yard (I don’t wanna! lol)! My mom helped me get our yard in order – luckily I got her to stick to just the types of plants that come back each year.

First of all the flower bed looks great! It definitely looks easy to keep up with; we recently purchased our home and pulled out 12 dead bushes in the front right side of the house. Once we purchase our new plants we can put that bird bath there in the new flower bed!

  • Hi, This is a beautiful birdbath. I would display in my front yard. I am about to do a major overhaul of the front scrubs. I have azalea bushes and a few other scrubs and they need a major cut back. But this would be beautiful nestled amongst the azaleas.

  • Your landscaping looks nice! I’ve just started cultivating my green thumb the past few years. It’s not as easy as people think. The bird bath is lovely, but I always worry about them becoming a mosquito breeding ground. How do you help deter that?

Hmmmm… I realistically would love to put this in my front yard because it’s so cute!!! (And last week I saw a woodpecker in our big tree in the front yard and this bird bath he would’ve loved) but I think I would put it in my backyard… that’s where the family gathers and it’s such a huge yard that being able to sit out back, practice my mindfulness while the birds bathe would be relaxing..

  • Hi Angela, your yard is gorgeous. I have a small back yard that seems more like a front yard because of how my house sits on the street. I actually see hummingbirds quite a bit and I would put the bird bath beside a fence near my patio. Happy to see a video from you and thanks for the opportunity. Blessings!

  • Your yard looks so inviting. I would love to make my yard look like that. I have a shared yard so it does make it hard to really do too much. I plant some flowers and that’s about it for now. If I won, I would probably donate the bird bath to the afterschool program that takes care of the community garden. The kids would love it.
