Dollar Tree DIY Challenge | Fingernail Polish Display Stand

What can I say? It’s a really fun way to display your finger nail polishes. Not only is it my most popular Pinterest post, it is also one of my easiest and least expensive DIYs I’ve created. I hope you enjoy.

Dollar Tree DIY – Fingernail Polish Display Stand

DURATION: 30min  |  MY COST: $2  |  DIFFICULTY: Easy

“MY COST” may or may not reflect the cost of items that I already own, but I will try to list each item as well as suggestions as to where to purchase them. SUPPLIES:

  • Black Foam Board | $1.00 – Dollar Tree
  • Picture Frame | $1.00 – Dollar Tree
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Pliers
  • Pencil
  • Utility Knife
  • Black Marker
  • Ruler

So let’s get started…

 

Nail Polish Stand DIY

Purchase foam board and a picture frame from the Dollar Tree

These are the supplies I used for this project

 

Nail Polish Stand DIY

Disassemble the picture frame. You will only need the frame backing and frame. With pliers, remove all of the tabs that keep picture in place.

Measure the frame backing onto your foam board and cut it out with a utility knife

Carefully peel the paper from the foam board. This will be used to cover the inside of the frame backing (which is grey).

Glue the paper from the foam board onto the inside of the frame backing. This step is unnecessary if your frame backing was already black.

Should look like this. It doesn’t have to be neat.

Trace the width of the picture frame and then down 1 1/2. We are created the border of the shelf. Your piece should be (width x 1 1/2). You will need 3 of these pieces

Trace the length of the picture frame and then down 1 1/2. We are created the border of the shelf. Your piece should be (length x 1 1/2). You will need 2 of these pieces

Cut out the traced the length and width pieces for the shelves. The should be 1 1/2 in depth.

The cut out shelf pieces should look like this

Cut 45 degree angles on the edges of 2 of the width pieces and 2 of the length pieces. You should have 1 width piece left untouched for the shelf

Your angles on the end should look like this

With you black mark, color in anything white. If you omit this step, it will stand out like a sore thumb.

Use your glue to assemble your stand

Assemble width pieces to length pieces

Glue in your final width piece in the middle of your stand to make the shelf.

Add glue to the back of your stand to add the frame backing.

With you black mark, color in anything white. If you omit this step, it will stand out like a sore thumb.

Hot glue around the inside of your frame.

Assemble by placing the frame on top of the box

And there you have it. Clean up any glue or paper hanging from edges.

Now add your fingernail polish…
