Step 11.
I painted over the tape grid with white paint to seal the tape and minimize the black paint seeping through. Allow paint to dry.
Step 12.
I followed that with black paint and allowed to dry.
Step 12.
I removed the final pieces of tape to reveal the white and black check pattern. Unfortunately, I still had some seepage. I fixed that with a small paintbrush and white paint.
